Camera Consciousness - New Outlooks on the Presence of Film

Posted in Events on

On November 26 and 27, in Stockholm, the Swedish Film Institute (SFI) will organize a two-day seminar exploring the concept of “camera consciousness.”

The camera has become a natural part of our everyday lives, deeply influencing our understanding and interpretation of what we come to experience as “reality.” How does this affect the ways in which we tell stories? What consequences does this have for the film medium itself? These central questions will be highlighted through aesthetic, philosophical as well as practical perspectives. The programme includes international and Swedish guests who will engage participants in their questioning through a series of lectures, workshops and artistic performances.

Professor Patricia Pisters, from University of Amsterdam, will act as keynote speaker and deliver a lecture entitled “From Peeping Toms to Sensing Alices,” centering around her exploration of the concept “camera consciousness.”Other attendants will be: Mia Engberg, Michel Wenzer, Joachim Trier, Linn Hilda Lamberg, Marius Dybwad Brandrud, Aida Cheherhgosha, Ninja Thyberg, Linda Sternö, Klara Björk, Maaret Koskinen, Ingrid Ryberg, Kalle Boman, Per Eriksson, Tove Torbiörnsson, Maja Borg, Annika Wik and there will be art works by Jonas Dahlberg, Victoria Skogsberg, Roxy Farhat and Kakan Hermansson. For more information, please visit (in Swedish).
